No charges have been filed in what has become a double-fatality crash on Fishpond Road around 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
A young Chuckey man, 19-year-old William Cash, is accused of crossing the center of the road and striking another vehicle head-on in the crash.
Chuckey resident Mary B. Hensley, 73, was killed in the crash.
Her husband, Clay E. Hensley, 73, died on Monday as the result of injuries related to the crash, according to an updated report by THP Sgt. Bill Miller.
Cash was injured in the accident and was transported to Johnson City Medical Center, where a supervisor said Monday that he had been discharged as a patient.
The original report by Trooper Patric Nienast noted that drugs were involved in the accident and that charges are pending in the ongoing investigation.
Nienast said that Cash's 1999 Buick Century crossed left of center while traveling southbound "at a speed too high for the roadway," striking the Hensley's 2004 Dodge Neon head-on as they pulled into the northbound lane from a driveway.
