Several Greene County employers will be seeking to hire qualified and skilled applicants at the Greene County Partnership Education & Workforce Development Department's Job Fair on Tuesday, May 8.

The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Comfort Inn, 1790 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy.

"Several companies have approached us recently regarding our assistance for organizing the job fair," said Tom Ferguson, president and CEO of the Greene County Partnership.

"This is a good problem to have, considering 10.7 percent of our workforce isn't employed."

Several local companies have signed up to participate and are in hopes of hiring people who are experienced, licensed or certified in skilled-specific positions.

Employers who will be accepting resumes are looking for experienced computer pneumatic controlled workers (CNC), tool & die, machine shop, welders, electrical, maintenance workers, etc.

Employers at the job fair will include The Donaldson Company, Jarden Zinc Products, C & C Millwright Maintenance Co., Inc., John Deere Power Products and Premium Waters.

Kelly Burrell, Education & Workforce Development director at the Greene County Partnership, said, "We are so excited to be able to provide this opportunity not only to the employers but for those people who are currently unemployed or looking to change careers."

Burrell advised anyone attending the job fair to be prepared by bringing several copies of resumes, as well as certifications or licenses they may have regarding skilled-labor positions.

For more information or to sign up to participate, contact Burrell at 638-4111.
