A suspect was in custody today in the death of a Greene County man who died early Sunday of multiple stab wounds at his Afton home.
The suspect, who had not been charged as of this morning, was previously convicted of second-degree murder in a multiple stabbing death.
At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Scotty Wayne Tilson, of 95 Mary Lamons Road, Afton, called Greene County 911, telling the dispatcher that he had been stabbed, according to a report by Lt. Terry Rader of the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
When Rader arrived at the scene, he found Tilson "lying on a mattress in a bedroom with what appeared to be several stab wounds about his body," Lt. Rader's report said.
Tilson told Rader that he knew who had stabbed him, and later remembered the person's name, Rader said in the report.
Officials found a trail of blood that led down Tilson's driveway and on to Mary Lamons Road to a baseball bat, according to the report.
The bat was found about 100 feet from the house. Another blood trail stretched approximately 100 feet past the bat, the report said.
Emergency officials treated Tilson at his Afton residence, but he later died from his injuries.
