Two people were taken into custody Tuesday after sheriff's deputies investigated a suspicious car parked at the Mohawk Post Office on Phillipi Road, Deputy C.H. Jessie said in a report.
Passenger Arielle R. Pitts, 22, of Elwood Drive, Rogersville, was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Driver Danny M. Bryant, 30, of the same address, was charged with driving on a suspended license.
When the deputy approached the car, Pitts "made motions as if to hide something," the report said.
Deputies saw Pitts with a small amount of marijuana on top of a book, the report said. A bag containing more marijuana was found in the center console of the car, the report added.
Cigar rolling tubes used to smoke marijuana were also found in the center console, the report said.
A records check on Bryant showed that his license was suspended for failure to provide financial responsibility.
Bond for Pitts was set at $2,000. Bond for Bryant was set at $1,000. Both were scheduled to appear today in General Sessions Court.
