A single-vehicle crash into a concrete wall in Johnson City has left a Telford man in critical condition at the Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC).
The accident occurred about 12:39 a.m., Sunday, when a grey Honda Accord driven by 68-year-old Jerry Hilbert left the roadway while traveling east on West Walnut Street, near the intersection with St. Clair Street.
According to the report by Johnson City Police, extensive damage to the vehicle required Hilbert and a passenger to be extricated.
Hilbert, of 129 Valley Road, Telford, was transported with life-threatening injuries to JCMC and remained in critical condition this morning, according to hospital spokeswoman Teresa Hicks.
The passenger, 31-year-old Edwin Macy, of 3216 Mayfield Drive, Johnson City, was transported to JCMC and admitted in stable condition.
The Johnson City Traffic Homicide Team is investigating. Speed may have been a factor in the crash, according to the report.
