Greeneville's link to country music's big-time, The Band Perry, will hold a special concert and autograph session in downtown Greeneville this Sunday afternoon.
The event will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Greene County Partnership, located on Academy Street.
If inclement weather occurs, the event will moved indoors to the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
The Band Perry, a Country Music Association "Vocal Group of the Year" nominee, consists of Kim Perry and her two brothers Neil Perry and Reid Perry. They are the children of Greeneville pediatrician, Dr. Stephen Perry, and his wife, Marie.
The family moved to Greeneville in 2002 from Mobile, Ala.
Last month, the Perrys learned that they have been nominated for the CMA's Vocal Group of the Year Award.
They share the Vocal Group nomination with such big names in country music as Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts and Zac Brown Band.
The CMA awards ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 10 in Nashville and will air live on ABC.
The Band Perry's debut CD is scheduled for release next Tuesday, Oct. 12. Copies of the CD will be available first to local residents this Sunday during the scheduled special event.
According to organizers of the event, the group is scheduled to perform several songs from their debut CD and then be available to autograph copies.
Two songs from the CD, "Hip to My Heart" and "If I Die Young," have already received a tremendous amount of airplay on country radio nationwide.
The group signed to Republic Nashville in August 2009.
Its members have been touring extensively this summer. This fall, they are scheduled to open shows for country superstar Alan Jackson.
