Investigators believe the man and woman who were taken into custody Wednesday "are responsible" for the death of Donald Ray Gunter, Sheriff Steve Burns said this morning.
As of late this morning, however, formal charges had not been filed against the two: Amanda Kate Harris, 27, and Mario Donte "Rio" Keene, 39.
The pair were the subject of a search Wednesday by investigators. They were located during the day and questioned.
"We're going to pick up this morning where we left off," Burns said.
The investigation into the death of Gunter, 69, involves both the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff's Department.
Gunter was found dead in his home at 554 Old Mountain Road just before noon on Tuesday.
Circumstances surrounding Gunter's death have not been released by the Sheriff's Department.
A gold-colored 1998 Cadillac Catera sought in connection with the investigation was also located,
Keene was charged last July by members of the Third Judicial Drug Task Force with sale/delivery of a Schedule II drug. He listed an address in the 700 block of North Main Street at the time.
Burns said he will confer on the matter this morning with the District Attorney General's Office.
