United Way of Greene County will officially begin its 2012 Campaign at the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad building on W. Church Street in Greeneville.

The Rescue Squad is one of the original agencies supported by United Way of Greene County in the first campaign more than 50 years ago.

Ron Metcalfe of WGRV/WIKQ/WSMG is serving as the 2012 general campaign chair.

Assisting Metcalfe are Mike Hopkins, Major Gifts chair; Wayland Seaton, Public Service chair; Kimberly Shepard, Small Business chair; Drs. Cynthia and Aaron Knop, Individual Gifts co-chairs; and Lindy Riley, City Division chair.

The campaign's goal is to raise $650,000 in contributions to help fund 23 local community-service organizations that help more than 27,000 people in Greene County.

A spokesman said that United Way of Greene County is looking forward to a successful 2012 campaign as volunteers visit with thousands of donors throughout Greene County who want to make a year-round difference in our community.
