FROM The Greeneville Neighbor News

By Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- In December 2011, Chewy was found as a stray here in Greene County.

The woman who found him tried desperately to find his owner and when that failed, she contacted the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society to ask for help.

Thankfully the Adoption Center had a kennel available for Chewy, and he was soon put up for adoption.

Fast forward six months and Chewy is still at the Humane Society, still looking for his “furever” home.

Chewy is a wonderful male Lab mix with a beautiful soft brown coat. He has a white chest and white socks on his paws. He has been neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and has had a complete vet exam.

Chewy loves to play tug of war & chase balls. He loves to go for walks and likes for people to sit in the shade with him. He especially enjoys lying under the big tree in his play yard watching everyone that walks by.

Nothing pleases him more than when a visitor takes the time to pat him on the head.   He may seem a little lazy to some, but we think he’s just a very chilled out, relaxed guy that likes to watch everything that goes on around him.

He likes most dogs and loves to play chase with them. One of his best friends was another dog named Eve who came to our Adoption Center around the same time as Chewy, but who’s now been adopted.  They could be seen running and playing when they were out in the yard.   We know Chewy misses having her to play with now.

Three of our volunteers, Laura Meade, Candy Allen and Megen Weems, are teaching Chewy basic commands and how to walk on a leash. Laura says that Chewy is very smart. These ladies are spending precious one on one time with Chewy to help him get ready for his “furever” home!

After he completes this training, he will be tested and be certified for the Canine Good Citizen certification.  We are excited for Chewy to accomplish this goal!

Are you looking for a companion to go for leisurely walks with you?   Someone to go for car rides in the rolling hills of Greene County with you?   A companion that has a friendly disposition that will be loyal and forever faithful?

If so, then we think Chewy just may be your dog!

To find out more about Chewy, please call us at (423) 639-4771, or come visit the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society on Hal Henard Road.

More photos of Chewy are posted on our Facebook page, “Friends of the Greeneville-Greene County,” and on our Petfinder link.  We would love to have you visit Chewy or any of our other adoptable animals!
