TOWNSEND, Tenn. – Bill Landry, Emmy Award winning host of WBIR-TV10's "The Heartland Series," will host a monthly guided trip around Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Tours will be conducted a Saturday each month through August, as part of the Cades Cove Heritage Tours special programs.
The author of “Appalachian Tales & Heartland Adventures,” will share stories, tales and adventures from the people who called Cades Cove home in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
“Mountain people, with their stories celebrating the origins and life ways of these mountains,” Landry said recently, “Is the topic of conversation during these trips. All and more - under a tree, on a porch, or by a stream, in the most beautiful place in the Great Smoky Mountains – Cades Cove.”
The tour is designed for all ages.
“It’s not a hike, but more like an amble,” Landry added with a smile, “I’m big on ambling now.”
Tour busses depart the Heritage Center at 9:30 AM on the following dates, all Saturdays: June 23, July 28, August 25, September 22, and October 27. Advance reservations are required, and the tour cost is $50 per person, with a limit of 18 guests per tour. Call Cades Cove Heritage Tours, 865-448-8838, Monday through Friday, for reservations.
