From The Greeneville Neighbor News

A free concert, featuring popular local musician Trey Hensley, has been set for Friday, Aug. 9, 6:30 to 9 p.m., rain or shine.

A news release from Main Street: Greeneville said, “It is planned to be the first of a number of Music Off Main (MOM) concerts to be held in a variety of downtown locations.

“Many downtown merchants will remain open that evening until 6:30.

“Come early and shop with your local participating downtown merchants prior to the concert and eat dinner at one of our downtown restaurants or enjoy a varied selection of foods provided by local vendors set up along West Depot Street.

“The Greeneville Arts Council will host a Children’s Art Tent before and during the concert with a variety of activities for all ages.

“Christ United Methodist Church will provide a Pet Pavilion with shade and water if you wish to bring your pet with you.

“Headlining this concert event is The Trey Hensley Band.

“Trey, a native of Jonesborough, plays his own brand of traditional honky-tonk music.

“Trey hit the road with his four piece band several years ago and has toured from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, Nebraska to North Carolina and he now returns to his native Tennessee for a few concert dates.

“To learn more about The Trey Hensley Band and hear Trey’s own style of picking, please check out

“Greeneville musician Stephen Winslow will open for The Trey Hensley Band.

“Stephen plays lead guitar in Sandy Ray and The Cold Shoulders and is one of the best known guitarists in the region.

“His repertoire includes Americana, honky-tonk and Appalachian style music.

“Stephen will showcase some of his original music.

“A drawing will be held during the concert for a variety of prizes provided by downtown merchants including a $50 dinner gift card from Brumley’s Restaurant and a one night stay at the General Morgan Inn.

“To register and be eligible for the drawing, visit one or more of the participating downtown businesses, fill out a free registration card and leave it with the merchant.

“You may fill out registration cards at more than one of the participating businesses but you are limited to only one card per merchant.

“To win you must be present at the concert at the time of the drawing if your name is called.

“Registration cards will be available during the entire week of the concert up until 6:00 p.m.

“Participating businesses are General Morgan Inn, Brumley’s Restaurant, Monterey Mexican Restaurant, Evan’s Jewelry and Gallery, Greeneville Antique Market, P. Bradford & Friends, Roberts Furniture, Central Drug Store, Towne and Country Event Rentals and Venues, Joe Waggoner’s Hardware, Ragan’s Furniture and Antiques, Artspace4 Gallery, Inn Style Boutique and Greeneville Credit Jewelers.

“In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to the First Presbyterian Church.

“The concert is free, and we invite you to pack up the children and your chairs and join us for this special summer time event.

“Andrew Johnson Bank is the generous sponsor of this first MOM event. Stop by and give them a big thanks.

“The concert is a project of Main Street: Greeneville, and it is hoped that through this event and others like it will promote interest in downtown Greeneville and the many excellent businesses found there."
