The Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society will host their annual HOWL-O-Ween Pet Costume Party on Oct. 26, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Animal Shelter, located at 950 Hal Henard Road.

Children and adults are invited to dress up their pets and enter the costume contest, which starts at 1 p.m. (Humans are invited to dress up, too.)

Registration will be from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

There will be prizes, concessions, children’s games, raffle items, a special “People’s Choice Award” and door prizes.

Registration is $5 per pet.

This event is run by volunteers and donations. All proceeds go to the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society.

For more information, call 423-639-4771. To volunteer to help, call 423-620-1470.

About Howl-O-Ween

This is the 13th annual Pet Costume Party, and we hope to make it the best ever.

Each year the contest grows. In 2012, there were 51 pets in their finest costumes.

Pet owners present their pets and strut their stuff before a very enthusiastic crowd.

The Master of Ceremonies is U-Geen Owens of Dog Leg Creek, Mississippi.

U-Geen keeps the audience in stitches with his lively antics and “Who Let the Dogs Out” music with his sidekick “RT.”

This year there will be a special performance by the popular country and gospel singer, Savannah Faith.

Pets and owners will be able to enjoy a newly developed walking trail in an enclosed park.

Thanks to some generous donations, visitors may rest at several picnic tables and benches along the trail for pets and their owners to have a break.

Bowls of fresh water are provided and lots of trees, too.

This is a great opportunity for pet owners to get out and enjoy the fall in an animal friendly environment.

Pet owners are asked to keep their animals leashed and clean up after them.

The Humane Society has bins for recycling aluminum cans, and everyone is encouraged to bring empty and clean cans to help raise money for the Shelter.

Other on-going needs at the Shelter are cat litter, laundry detergent, paper towels, bleach, and, of course, money to pay the expenses of running the Shelter.

All donations are appreciated.

So don’t forget to let your pet get involved in some fall fun.

Bring your dog, cat, goat, pony, turtle, parrot, or whatever and come have some fun and make some friends at the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society Shelter on Oct. 26.

Enjoy the great outdoors with your favorite pet and help out the Shelter animals, too.

In the event of steady or heavy rain, the event will be held Sunday, Oct 27.

Again, for more information, call 639-4771
