Laiken Morrow and Ricky Lamb were crowned queen and king of the North Greene High School Prom, held Saturday night at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville.

In a surprise to many, David Estrada escorted Melissa Smith to the dance floor, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

Melissa said “yes,“ and students and teachers cheered.

David made the proposal after the dinner portion of the NGHS prom, preceding the program and dance.

The couple are both 17 and plan a long engagement, with plans to marry in 2015.
