Pictured are Felix Baumgartner and his space suit. Baumgartner had planned to jump from the edge of space with no mechanical propulsion on Oct. 9, 2012. ROSWELL, N.M -- The first human was scheduled to go supersonic without any mechanical propulsion aids today, but the launch was aborted this afternoon.

A new launch date was not immediately announced.
