There is Nothing Wrong
with Mr. Right!

Photos special to The Greeneville Neighbor News. At left is Mr. Right’s photo from the local humane society’s Facebook page. Janice Spainhower saw the picture and began praying whether to adopt the special pooch. In the adjacent photo, Mr. Right is shown with his new family (from left): Scott, Janice, Jack and Lauren Spainhower. The Spainhowers knew Mr. Right was the “right” dog for their family.

There is Nothing Wrong with Mr. Right!

September 2012 was not a happy time for Mr. Right, a handsome Red Heeler-Beagle mix that had been found as a stray and taken to Greene County Animal Control, where he awaited euthanization unless he were lucky enough to get adopted.

While Mr. Right was at Animal Control, Amy Bowman, manager of the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society (GGCHS), saw him in his cage, looking at her with his big, sad eyes. Amy knew she had to bring him to the Humane Society’s so she could get him ready for adoption.

On February 21, 2013, after six long months of living at the Humane Society, Mr. Right’s prayers were answered.

Janice Spainhower from Knoxville had recently seen Mr. Right’s picture on the GGCHS Facebook page, where he was featured at the top of the page, and began praying about whether she and her family should adopt him.

Each day she would look at his picture and ask God what she should do.

After much discussion with her family, Scott, Jack &Lauren, they made the decision to drive to Greeneville to meet him in person.

They all LOVED each other!

Since Mr. Right had been at GGCHS for so long, all of the staff and volunteers had gotten attached to him, so it was a bittersweet moment for them.

They were sad because they knew they were going to miss him, but joyful that he was going to such a wonderful home.

Thank you to this family for choosing to adopt Mr. Right!

We’re also happy to report that the family has decided to keep Mr. Right’s name.

GGCHS wanted to also share this update from Mr. Right’s new family on his first night in his “furever” home.

Janice wrote, “Mr. Right is so special. We have been brought to happy tears many times tonight! He loves his home with us and his bed is his favorite thing! We are the lucky ones! What a joy he is! Now I know why the gals started to cry when we were leaving. He is so sweet & gentle and we are still in shock that he is OURS! We are forever grateful!”

Remember, there was nothing wrong with Mr. Right!

There are many dogs just like Mr. Right that would love to be adopted.
