South Greene's Rachel Brooks gave up only two hits and one run Tuesday as the Lady Rebels scored a 2-1 upset of Chuckey-Doak in District 2-AA softball action.
Cindi Edington did an equally admirable job from the circle for the Lady Knights with eight strike outs and just one walk while allowing eight hits in eight innings of work.
Kiela Wills led South Greene from the plate, going 3-for-4. Solomon was 2-for-3 and knocked in a run. Brooks helped herself with a double and scored a run. Ashton Wykle scored the other South Greene run.
Tori Hopson and Katie Lawson recorded Chuckey-Doak's only hits. Andi Lamb scored the Lady Knights lone run in the fifth inning to tie the contest at 1-1.
South Greene scored in the eighth to pick up the win.
Chuckey-Doak will host Greeneville tonight with the winner claiming the No. 2 seed for the District 2-AA tournament, set to begin Thursday at satellite locations.
