BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Greeneville Astros had a tough time in game two of their three-game series against the Burlington Royals on Monday night, falling 5-0 to the Royals.
Burlington's lefty Colin Rodgers pitched well and helped the Royals earn their seventh straight win.
The Royals went up early in the first inning when Cameron Gallagher singled with the bases loaded for the first score. Patrick Leonard scored on a passed ball to put Burlington up 2-0.
In the fifth inning, the Astros picked up their lone hit of the night on an Ariel Ovando single. Consecutive walks loaded the bases before a pop out and ground out ended Greeneville's best chance at getting on the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the fifth, Burlington scored another run on a Humberto Arteaga RBI double. Bubba Starling connected on a two-run homer to put the Royals up 5-0 which eventually became the final score.
Colin Rodgers (3-0) earned the win for the Royals by giving up no runs on one hit over five innings. The lefty has now pitched the past 18.2 innings without giving up a score.
The Astros will conclude their three-game series in Burlington on Tuesday. The Appalachian League has Wednesday off, then Greeneville begins a three-game set at West Division leader Elizabethton on Thursday.
