AFTON - The fifth-seeded Chuckey-Doak boys rallied in the second half to defeat No. 4 Johnson County in the opening round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament at CDMS Saturday night.
The Black Knights advance to play No. 1 seed Happy Valley Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
Johnson County jumped out to a 13-9 lead after the first quarter and maintained a 20-18 advantage at intermission.
Chuckey-Doak rallied to take the lead in the third quarter, though, and then used an 11-5 fourth quarter to put the game away.
Karter Maupin and Devin Jennings scored 10 points apiece to lead the Black Knights to victory.
Nathaniel Moon added seven and Cameron Hamm five.
Dalton Eller scored 12 points for Johnson County.

In the other boys' contest Saturday, No. 3 Cloudland rolled to a 66-6 win over sixth-seeded Hunter.
Eleven different players scored for Cloudland, led by Preston Benfield with 11. Jeffrey Puckett and Noah Arnett added nine points apiece.
Cloudland will play No. 2 Hampton at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

In the girls' bracket of the 2012-13 Tri-County Conference basketball tournament at Chuckey-Doak Middle Saturday, No. 3 Cloudland defeated sixth-seeded Hunter, 46-37, behind the 18-point effort of Donrae Taylor.
Chelsea Grubb paced Hunter with 13 points.
Cloudland advances to play No. 2 Happy Valley Tuesday at 4 p.m.
