ROAN MOUNTAIN -- South Greene's boys came out on the short end of a close game with the homestanding Cloudland Highlanders here Thursday night.
Cloudland recovered late to take a 65-58 victory as Logan Morgan dumped in 27 points.
South Greene got 13 points from Cory Brown and 12 from Zach Randolph. David Baker scored nine.
The Rebels got off to a terrible start in the game, trailing 16-2 early and behind 23-12 at the first rest stop. But they managed to recover, closing to 41-32 at halftime, then 48-47 after three periods. The Rebels eventually took the lead in the fourth, but lost both Brown and Stephan van der Merwe to fouls and Cloudland recovered to win.
South Greene is home to league and county rival Chuckey-Doak tonight.
