The District 2-AA Volleyball Tournament will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at Chuckey-Doak High School's gymnasium.
South Greene is the top seed for the five-team district tournament. Three matches will be staged on Tuesday with the championship tilt scheduled for Thursday.
On Tuesday, No. 4 seed Chuckey-Doak takes on No. 5 seed Greeneville in the 5 p.m. opener, followed at 6:30 by No. 2 seed West Greene vs. No. 3 seed Grainger. No. 1 seed South Greene plays at 8 p.m. against the winner of the C-D/GHS contest.
The tourney final game will be Thursday at 6 p.m.
BRAC AWARDS
The Blue Ridge Athletic Conference has announced their all-conference volleyball team as well as special awards for the season.
Co-Player of the Year awards were presented with South Greene's Alora Ricker and West Greene's Charlotte Murphy sharing the honor.
Setter of the Year Award went to Javan Wilhoit of South Greene, while Hitter of the Year is Maelyn Cutshaw of South Greene. Defensive Player of the Year is Lorena Leon Greeneville, with Morgan Lemka of Grainger earning the Freshman of the Year plaque.
South Greene's Stephen Gregg is the conference Coach of the Year.
The league presented All-Conference awards as follows:
*South Greene - Javan Wilhoit, Maelyn Cutshaw, Alora Ricker and Konnor Donahue. Honorable Mention: Jessica Gallihar.
*West Greene - Meghan Barnes, Charlotte Murphy and Bailey Jarrell. Honorable Mention: Taylor Winstead.
*Grainger - Allison Hodge, Holly Black and Madison Holt. Honorable Mention: Blake Lamb.
*Chuckey-Doak - Taylor Campbell and Tori Hopson. Honorable Mention: Keri Ricker.
*Greeneville - Makaylen Cutshall and Lorena Leon. Honorable Mention: Selena Leon.
