Dobyns-Bennett Claims First In TC's
Inaugural Cross Country Invitational

Girls and boys teams from 10 high schools converged on the Tusculum campus Thursday afternoon for the inaugural TC Invitational.

Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett had the best effort on the 5,000 meter (3.1 miles) course, as both the Indians and Lady Indians claimed team titles.

The D-B girls ended up with 35 points, followed by Greeneville (66), Grainger (84), South Greene (100) and Madison (117).

On the boys' side, D-B had six of the top 11 finishers and finished with 32 points. Greeneville came in second (63), followed by Sullivan East (98), Grainger (121) and West Greene (122).

Dobyns-Bennett's Alexa Zimmerman (21:33) won the girls' individual title by edging Greeneville junior Hannah Rhodes by 24 seconds.

Crockett's Carrigan Bishop, Chuckey-Doak's Maddison Melchionna and D-B's Hannah Cutshall rounded out the top five.

Grainger County sophomore won the boys' race in 16:47. Greeneville junior Wesley Pectol finished 23 seconds behind. D-B runners Austin Frye and Carl Oberfeltinge came in third and fourth, while Chuckey-Doak's Simeon Roberts was fifth.

Greeneville: Hannah Rhodes, 2nd; Coven Braxton, 15th; Sydne Stephens, 19th; Megan Cole 20th; Chelsey Carpenter, 21st; Leigh Ann Blalock, 33rd; Rachelle Wells, 42; Taylor Morelock, 43.

South Greene: Cheyenne Upton, 7th; Katie Brown, 18th; Alissa Furches, 24th; Emily Fuller, 29th; Brittany Vitale, 37th; Sara Furches, 40th; Taylor Starlin, 53.

Chuckey-Doak: Maddison Melchionna, 4th; Crystal Pridemore, 14th.

West Greene: Sierra McIntosh, 16th; Laura Manis, 44th; Melissa Manis, 48th.

Boys

Greeneville: Wesley Pectol, 2nd; Atlas Fagundes, 9th; Matthew Bowers, 13th; Wesley King, 15th; Jacob Norris, 25th; Alex Biumi, 26th; Conor Miles, 34th; Ben Simpson, 60th.

West Greene: Dallas Gratz, 18th; Christopher Cole, 20th; Robert Vradenburgh, 24th; Joseph Colby, 29th; John Jones, 36th; Adam Wood, 41st; Charles Wilt, 52nd.

Chuckey-Doak: Simeon Roberts, 5th; Micah Roberts, 43rd; T.J.Tupps, 45th; Linus Evans, 63rd; Zach Dyer, 83rd.

South Greene: Jacob Powers, 70th; Trace Ray, 86th.
