GHS Cross Country Teams Finish High In All-Comers Meet

The Greeneville High School Cross Country teams competed in the Panther Creek All-Comers Meet in Morristown on Tuesday Afternoon.

The Greene Devils came away with second place honors in the 13-team race while the Lady Devils finished third.

The Devils, who packed five runners in the top 24 places, were led by Wes Pectol (8th, 19:30) and Matthew Bowers (10th, 19:38).

They were followed closely by Atlas Fagundes (14th, 19:56) and Alex Biumi (17th, 20:07). Jacob Norris (24th, 20:55), Wes King (43rd, 23:03) and Conor Miles (44th, 23:05) rounded out the top seven for Greeneville. A total of 127 runners finished the boys race.

The Lady Devils placed all seven runners in the top 49 of the 80-runner field. Coven Braxton (9th, 24:20) was the top finisher for Greeneville.

Other top five finishers were Sydne Stephens (21st, 25:55), Leah Thwing (28th, 27:32), Megan Cole (37th, 28:32) and Megan Bible (39th, 28:53). Leigh Ann Blalock (43rd, 29:30) and Rachelle Wells (49th, 31:32) rounded out the top seven for the Lady Devils.

West Greene's Sierra McIntosh finished 14th overall (25:12) to pace the Lady Buffs. The West Greene boys finished third overall and were paced by a 12th place finish by Robert Vradenburgh (19:51).

Dallas Gratz was 20th, Cole Christopher 22nd, and Joseph Colby 25th for the Buffs.

Chuckey-Doak'a Simeon Roberts placed fourth overall in the meet in a time of 18:23.

In the girls meet, Chuckey-Doak's Madison Melchionna was 12th overall (24:37) and Crystal Pridemore was 15th (25:22). South Greene's Katie Brown was 18th (25:34)

Boys Team Scores: Morristown West - 31; Greeneville - 67; West Greene - 111; Grainger - 115; Providence Academy - 141; Morristown East - 143; Alcoa - 201; Chuckey-Doak - 219; Cocke Co. - 233; Pigeon Forge - 286; Campbell Co. - 290; Cherokee - 318; others had no score.

Girls Team Scores: Morristown West - 15; Grainger - 84; Greeneville - 103; Morristown East - 124; Alcoa - 143; Cherokee - 152; South Greene - 164; Providence Academy - 192; Cocke Co. - 193; others had no score.
