High School XC Competitors Travel To Bristol

Local high school cross country teams traveled to Bristol Saturday morning to participate in the Bristol Cross.

The event welcomed over 1,600 runners spread out over several different divisions.

Greeneville High School won both the boys' and girls' championships in the Small School Division.

The Devils accumulated 48 points to roll to victory. Abingdon (92), University High (107), John S. Battle (138) and Martinsville (147) rounded out the top five.

The West Greene boys placed ninth out of 16 teams.

The Lady Devils edged University High by one point, 72-73. Virginia High (101), John S. Battle (115) and Grainger (120) made the top five.

The West Greene girls placed 11th.

Greeneville's Wes Pectol recorded his fastest time of the year (16:10.2) to place first among the Small School runners and third out of all the boys competing.

Greeneville's Zach Weaver was eighth overall, followed by West King (44th), Jacob Norris (47), Atlas Fagundes (50), Matthew Bowers (62nd), Alex Biumi (99th).

Chuckey-Doak's Simeon Roberts finished seventh with a time of 16:44.6.

West Greene's Christopher Cole and Dallas Gratz placed 96th and 97th, respectively.

On the girls' side, Greeneville's Hannah Rhodes finished 15th overall and first in the Small School Division. Coven Braxton was 49th, followed by Coven Braxton (49th), Sydne Stephens (60th), Megan Cole (70th), and Chelsey Carpenter (93rd).

South Greene's Cheyenne Upton placed 29th overall, followed by Chuckey-Doak's Crystal Pridemore in 30th. The top West Greene runner was Sierra McIntosh in 87th.
