MANCHESTER - Greeneville senior Blake Kinser ended his high school golf career in style this week as he finished 10th at the TSSAA Class A/AA State Championships.

Kinser fired consecutive rounds of 73 on the WillowBrook Golf Club layout to end up seven strokes back of individual champion Grayson Davis of Christ Presbyterian Academy.

Alcoa won the boys' team title with a 591 total - 17 strokes better than runner-up Sullivan South, the Region 1 champion.

Greeneville sophomore Lillith Bulawa went 88-92-180 to finish tied for 24th on the girls' side.

Sophia Schubert of Christian Academy of Knoxville ran away with the girls' individual crown as she turned in a 141 total to beat Allyson Dunn of Sullivan South by 11 strokes.

The Sullivan South girls claimed the team title with a 315 total, which was eight strokes better than Macon County.

Kinser was making his third appearance at state and drastically improved on his 62nd-place finish from a year ago. It was the first appearance for Bulawa, who moved to Greeneville from New York prior to this school year.
