NEW TAZEWELL -- The Chuckey-Doak High Lady Black Knight soccer team improved to 4-0 Friday with an 8-1 road win versus Claiborne.

Senior striker Hannah Riddle led the way with a hat trick, and now has 14 goals on the season, while five other Lady Black Knights added goals of their own.

Pia Dzimalle found the net in the seventh minute after gathering a pass across the goal mouth from Elizabeth Jimenez. A minute later Riddle won a Claiborne goal kick and darted through a couple of defenders to tap the ball into the side netting.

In the 20th minute C-D went up 3-0 when Alicia Phillips bent a corner kick into the goal. In the 31st minute Riddle stole the ball from a Claiborne defender and chipped a shot over the keeper for the C-D 4-0 lead. Just before the halftime whistle Riddle took a shot that bounced off the post but freshman Sandi Castle was ready for the rebound and blasted a screamer into the net to end the half with C-D up 5-0.

The Lady Black Knights added three more goals in the second half. Alicia Gill lofted a long shot over the Claiborne keeper's hands and into the net. Six minutes later Riddle completed the hat trick from a pass from Mariah Schrodt. C-D ended the scoring in the 70th minute with a Phillips corner kick that found Karla Jimenez on a back post run to end the night with eight goals for the Black Knights.

Claiborne found the net late in the second half off a corner kick that ended the game in favor of C-D 8-1.

The Claiborne vs. C-D game was a special contest called "the Game of Hope" with proceeds being donated to two Claiborne High School students, brother and sister Jared and Jordyn Parker, who were badly injured in a car accident. The Lady Black Knights raised over $100 for the cause.

The Lady Black Knights travel to University High Tuesday for a 6:30 district matchup.
