COSBY - The South Greene Rebels rolled to a 42-3 win over Cosby on Friday evening at Raymond Large Field.
South Greene finished with over 400 yards of total offense and held Cosby under 100 yards in the victory.
All of South Greene's 42 points came in the first half, and they looked like a team on a mission.
At the same time, the Cosby Eagles looked like a team that was ready to go home.
"They threw the ball a lot better than we expected them to throw it," Cosby head coach Kevin Hall said. "But just to be honest with you, they really didn't do anything else different that we didn't work on all week."
"We ran the screen at our defense probably 300 times this week, and they ran it four times and went and scored every time. There's not much else we can do. We showed it to them, we showed it to them and then we showed it to them some more."
Hunter Waddell connected with Preston Shuffler for the first score of the night on a 40-yard screen pass on 4th-and-five.
Waddell hit Shuffler on the exact same screen play the next drive and it went 25 yards for another score as the Rebels extended their early lead to 14-0.
Waddell hit Tim Lightfoot for a third score through the air and it pushed the South Greene lead to 21-0 with 8:01 left in the first half.
Waddell finished the night with 259 yards passing
The Rebels continued to pour it on as they would add three more touchdowns before the half.
South Greene's speed really proved to be too much as they were able to get to the edge all game long.
Lightfoot added a two-yard rushing score. Waddell then hit Lightfoot for an 86-yard touchdown one play following a Cosby turnover and Shuffler added an 18-yard rushing touchdown to push the lead to 42-0 at the half.
Nathan Webb put Cosby on the board midway through the third quarter with a 27-yard field goal to make it 42-3.
Dereck Weeks ended up leading the Eagles offensively with 61 yards rushing. Lance Greco tallied eight tackles to lead the defense.
