COSBY - Despite committing five turnovers, North Greene was able to hold on for a 15-7 road victory at Cosby Friday night.
The North Greene defense was outstanding, allowing just 134 yards of total offense and holding the Eagles 0-for-15 on third down tries.
After some missed chances by both teams on the first few drives, North Greene's Mason Early forced a Drew Schreder fumble inside the Cosby five.
The ball then rolled out of bounds in the end zone, resulting in a safety to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.
Later in the second quarter following a Cosby punt, Early sprinted 29 yards for a North Greene touchdown, extending the lead 9-0.
The Huskies (2-0 Region 1-A, 4-1 overall) ended the game with 210 total offensive yards, 194 of which came on the ground. Early ended up with 120 yards on 15 carries.
The lone touchdown for the Eagles (2-2, 0-2) came on an eight yard pass from Drew Schreder to Kyle Stanton midway through the fourth quarter.
The second half was mainly a combination of punts and turnovers, but the Eagles did chip the lead to 9-7 on the toss from Schreder.
The Eagles defense played well for most of the half and kept them in the game. However, a 36 yard touchdown run late in the fourth from Early on a fourth and short helped stretch the lead to 15-7 following a missed extra point.
