An intense rainstorm about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday stranded
motorists and choked some Greene County roadways with fast-rising water and debris.
Rainfall
estimates in some sections of the county were over two inches in less than an hour and rain
continued to fall overnight. A total of 3.40 inches of rain fell between 7 a.m. Wednesday
and 7 a.m. today at the University of Tennessee AgResearch & Education Center on East Allens
Bridge Road.
