Jimmy Shipley

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Clarence G. "Jimmy" Shipley, 67, of Kokomo, died early Thursday morning at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born Sept., 8, 1940, in Greeneville, Tenn., and was a son of the late Taylor and Estella (Roberts) Shipley.
On Nov. 4, 1966, at Beamer United Methodist Church, he married the former Nancy E. Johnson.
Mr. Shipley was a 1958 graduate of Camp Creek High School in Greene County, Tenn.
He worked at Chrysler Transmission Plant retiring June 1, 2007, after 37 years of service.
Mr. Shipley was a member of UAW Local No. 685.
He started coaching in 1975 at Northwest Little League, having coached the Indians, Tigers and Babe Ruth Chiefs. He also helped coach flag football and basketball.
"He collected baseball cards and was an avid IU, Bobby Knight, Notre Dame and NASCAR fan," his family noted.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Shipley; one daughter and son-in-law: Dee and John Thompson of South Bend; one son and daughter-in-law: Tim and Timi Shipley of Kokomo; five grandchildren: Danielle Lawson, Casey Shipley, Cody Shipley, Eli Grimes, and Chase McGowan; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Ruth and Pierce Knipp and Faye and George Gunter; a brother and sister-in-law: Cecil and Mary Shipley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Alfred and Jean Johnson of Kokomo; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert and Priscilla Brown, Robert and Sue Moss, and Larry and Diana Blades; and several nieces and nephews.
He had a special pet, his dog, "Mindy."
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Selma Morelock, Trixie Rollins, and Dorothy "Dot" Wills; and two brothers: Hugh "Sonny" Shipley and Doyle "Bud" Shipley.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 Monday morning in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Don McDowell will officiate.
Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local little league baseball organization of the donor's choice.
