Died: May 3, 2008

KNOXVILLE -- Dorothy Bernice Wheeler Ellis, 84, died Saturday.

"A faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church, she has gone home to be with her Lord, the love of her life," her family stated.

"She was a committed partner in their prayer chain.

"She was 'Mom' and 'Mamaw' to all who knew her. Whenever anyone needed prayer, he or she could rest secure in the knowledge that 'Mom' would petition Heaven until she got an answer."

"She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her, but we can all rejoice in the certainty that we will be rejoined with her in the sweet by and by."

Mrs. Ellis was the widow of Eugene Ellis, her husband of 64 years.

In addition to the son and daughter-in-law listed above, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Roy and Sandra Ellis and Bill Ellis; her daughters and their husbands: Berna and Bruce McCloud, Tricia and Jerry Kastler, and Vickie and Rick Walker; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
