Dessie Dee Davis

Dessie Dee Davis, 91, of the Chuckey community, died Saturday at her home.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and the widow of Sebe Davis.
She was of the Baptist tradition of faith.
Her family stated, "Mrs. Davis was an extraordinary woman as well as a loving mother and grandmother. She was also widely known for her generosity and her wonderful home cooking."
She is survived by two daughters: Louise Davis, who was also her caregiver, and Nellie Broyles; three grandchildren and their spouses: Brenda and Eric Hyder, Joyce and Dennis Lamb, and Kathy and Johnny Tarlton; three great-grandchildren: Zac Hyder, Logan Lamb, and Hannah Lamb; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Mary and Sam Bitner; and three brothers and one sister: Harce Bitner, Jake Bitner, Dean Bitner, and Pauline Fellers.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Ray Penley will officiate.
Interment will follow in Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Broyles, Kenneth Bitner, Roger Phillips, Don "Bear" Brown, Mike Fellers, Sammy Fellers, and Jimmie Bitner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Montgomery and his staff, and the staff of Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice.
