Mary Elizabeth Mitchell

Mary Elizabeth Odum Mitchell, 82, of Fairmount, Ind., died Friday at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, Ind.

She was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Bristol, and was a daughter of the late Howard Odum and the late Beulah (Rutter) Williams.

Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker.

She was a member of Fairmount Order of Eastern Star for more than 31 years.

"She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and canning," her family noted.

On Dec. 21, 1948, she was married to Troy C. Mitchell.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Clifton D. Mitchell of Quitan, Texas, and James and Diane Mitchell of Marion, Ind.; four grandchildren: Timothy L. Mitchell and his wife, Joy, of Quitan, Texas, Nathan D. Mitchell and Matthew A. Mitchell, both of Marion, Ind., and Joshua R. Mitchell of Fairmount; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Daisy and Verlin Dean of Mendota, Va., and Susan and Dave Crabtree of Bristol; and four brothers and a sister-in-law: Allen and Sandra Odum of Bristol, Dennis Odum of Mendota, Va., Paul Odum of Fredericksburg, Ohio, and Lee Odum of Bristol.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard Odum and Glen Odum; and a sister: Anna Ruth Booher.

The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow vvisitation at 2 o'clock Saturday in the funeral home chapel with interment in Hermon Cemetery in Afton. The Rev. Ronnie Mitchell will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Josh Mitchell, Nathan Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Wayne Jennings, Ricky Mitchell, Timmy Mitchell, and Joe Mitchell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fairmount Order of Eastern Star or Fairmount Masonic Lodge Trustees Building Fund, c/o Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN 46928.
