Milburn A. "Roy" Carter, 72, of Union Road, Greeneville, died Friday at his home.
Mr. Carter was a farmer and a former employee of Bryant Mobile Homes.
He attended Union Free Will Baptist Church when his health permitted.
His family stated: "He liked to attend auctions and had a love of antique farm machinery and antique cars. Family, friends, and neighbors gathered with him at his barn and garage on a daily basis."
Survivors include: his wife of 51 years: Billie Jeffers Carter; two sons and daughters-in-law: Doug and Jeannie Carter, and Randy and Nancy Carter; two daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Ronnie Tullock, and Juanetta and Lloyd Swatzell; a special friend whom he thought of as a son: Mike Massey; three grandchildren: Adam Carter, Brittany Carter, and Ben Tullock; two great-grandchildren: Brayden Carter and Logan Cobble; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Calvin and Janis Carter, and Aubrey Carter; his mother-in-law: Cressie Jeffers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vickie Carter, Holly Carter, George and Geraldine Jeffers, Howard and Debbie Jeffers, Jimmy and Debbie Jeffers, Sylvia and Ricky Cain, Janice and Lynn Rutherford, John and Martha Jeffers, and Hilda Jeffers; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins; and several special friends: Debbie Cox, Wayne Owens, Johnny Johnson, Charles Barnes, Johnny Jones, Julius Lady, and Buck Hale.
He was a son of the late Boston and Mildred Carter and was preceded in death by four brothers: Billy E. Carter, Roscoe Carter, Kyle Carter, and Robert Davenport.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kiser Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Waycaster will officiate. Interment will be in Cross Anchor Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Roger Carter, Ricky Carter, Gary Carter, Johnny Carter, David Carter, Marcus Carter, Carl Davenport Jr., and Tommy Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be: friends of the Union Road community and Dr. Thomas Beckner
