Died: May 15, 2008
Mary Elizabeth Mays,
88, of the Hardin's Chapel community, died Thursday at Takoma Regional
Hospital.
She was a member of Hardin's Chapel United Methodist Church and
the United Methodist Women, attending as long as her health permitted. She taught a Sunday school
class for 30 years.
Mrs. Mays retired from what is now Takoma Regional
Hospital as a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
She was the widow of J.L.
Dick Mays.
Her family noted "She enjoyed gardening and working out in the
yard. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors
include one son and daughter-in-law: J. Allen and Sandy Broyles; a daughter: Vicie Mays Motz of
Greeneville; her grandchildren: Kelly and Tim Cutshaw of Knoxville, Eric and Tonya Broyles of
Knoxville, Trevor Motz, and Hunter Motz; three great-grandchildren: Kaylah Cutshaw, Braden Cutshaw,
and Kase Broyles; a special niece and nephew: Jean and Andy Nichols; and two special friends and
caregivers: Penny Johnson and Sharon Herbert.
She was preceded in death
by a grandson J. Tyler Motz; and three sisters: Ila Kesterson, Hazel Moore, and Marjorie
Miahl.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at Jeffers
Mortuary.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon
in the mortuary chapel. The Rev. Homer Roller and Dan Dugger will
officiate.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory
Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cutshaw, Eric Broyles, Fred McDonald,
Andy Nichols, Mike Nichols, Braden Cutshaw, and Kase Broyles.
Honorary
pallbearers will be the members of Hardins Chapel UM Church.
