Wayne Douthat

Charles Wayne Douthat, 68, of Mount Hope Road, Mohawk, died Thursday morning at his home.
He was born March 3, 1940, and was a son of Bea Douthat of Morristown and the late Jesse Douthat.
He enjoyed farming, which was also his trade, his family said.
Mr. Douthat was a graduate of McDonald High School.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
His family said that he was "well liked and respected in his community. He was a loving father and 'granddad.'
"Mr. Douthat enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and was an avid rook player with family and friends."
They continued, "His family is appreciative that he did everything possible to fight his cancer, but is grateful that all suffering has ceased."
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife: Dorothy Wills Douthat; one daughter and son-in-law: Cindi and Kenneth Payne of Greeneville; three sons and daughters-in-law: David and Ruby Douthat of Spartanburg, S.C.; Charles Wayne Douthat Jr. and his wife, Janie, and Daniel and Jennifer Douthat, all of the Mohawk community; eight grandchildren: Emily Douthat, Charles Wayne "Trey" Douthat III, Benjamin Douthat and Kaleigh Douthat, all of Mohawk, Anthony Douthat of Tokyo, Japan, Linsey Douthat of Spartanburg, Whitney Simpson of West Virginia and Crystal Manis of Rogersville; three stepgrandchildren: Brian Payne of Seattle, Wash., and Travis Payne and Julia Frye, both of the Greeneville area; two great-grandchildren: Alex Frye and Ethan Frye, both of Greeneville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gene and Yvonne Douthat and Mike and Pat Douthat, all of Kingsport; one sister and brother-in-law: Brenda and Ronnie Goode of Mohawk; his sisters-in-law and their husbands: Mrs. Carl (Olgie) Southerland, Mrs. Marshall (Imogene) Harrison, Sue and Kyle Hogan, Mrs. Gene (Lois) Smith, Carolyn and Leonard Rhea and Barbara Wills, all of Greene and Washington counties; his brothers-in-law and their wives: J.B. and Marlene Wills and Gary and Peggy Wills all of Greene County; several nieces and nephews; three aunts; one uncle; and a "very close friend": Claude Cansler of Mohawk
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Cynthia Jane Manis; and one granddaughter: Cherice Danielle Manis.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today at Mosheim Chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church. The Rev. Sammy Stockman will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Trey Douthat, Benjamin Douthat, Randy Douthat, Steven Douthat, Thomas Douthat, Nathan Douthat, Travis Payne, Adrian Wills, Scott Wills and Nick Combs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Cansler, Mike Combs, Gary Gardner, Ronald Ray and Dr. Dharmen Patel.
