"T.O." Luttrell Jr., 86, of Grandview Avenue, Greeneville, died Monday evening at Takoma Regional
Hospital.
Mr. Luttrell was a widely-known insurance agent for Life and
Casualty Insurance Company for a number of years, from which he
retired.
A longtime member of the First Church of God, he had served in
numerous positions including Sunday school teacher for his class, the Bible Venture Class; the
church treasurer; and served on the board of trustees "to name a few."
He
was a member of Gideon's International.
Mr. Luttrell was a veteran of
World War II, serving in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army in England and Paris,
France.
"He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and
was a very faithful man who put up a hard fight. He has finished his course," his family
stated.
Survivors
include his wife of 66 years: Elizabeth Bowers Luttrell: four sons and
three daughters-in-law: Tommy Luttrell, Jerry and Jennifer Luttrell,
Ronnie and Jeannie Luttrell, and Steven and Linda Luttrell, all of
Greene County: four grandchildren; Aubrey Lee of Kingsport, Jessica Lee
of Johnson City, and Annie Luttrell and Matt Luttrell, both of
Greeneville: one great-granddaughter: Carlie Lee of Johnson City; two
sisters and their husbands: Louise and Clark Parman of Greeneville and
Joyce and Beryl McCracken of Limestone: two brothers and two
sisters-in-law: Jim and Wendy Luttrell of Georgia, Pete Luttrell of
Greeneville, and Imogene Luttrell of Greeneville; several nieces and
nephews; and a number of special friends.
Mr. Luttrell was
preceded in death by his parents: Nola (Myers) and T.O. Luttrell Sr.; a grandson: Jeremy Grant
Luttrell; three brothers: Howard Luttrell, Carroll Luttrell, and Elmer Luttrell; and a sister: Clara
Ruth Luttrell.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at
Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 7
o'clock in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Gerald Rudd and Pastor Darrell Sovine will
officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 Thursday morning in
Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. The Greeneville-Greene County Honor Guard will conduct a military
graveside rite.
Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 9:30
to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alan Luttrell,
Dan Luttrell, Raymond Shelton, Kenneth Trantham, Winfred Solomon, Ross Lamb, and Matt
Luttrell.
Honorary pallbearers will the members of the Bible Venture
Class.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God Building
Fund or to the Locust Springs Christian Retreat Center.
