Died: Feb. 13, 2009

Iris Inez Denton, 90, of West Andrew Johnson Highway, Bulls Gap, died Friday evening at Takoma Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Denton was a retired nurse.

She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Bluff City.

She was the widow of Lawson M. Denton.

Survivors include a daughter: Betty I. Martin of Bulls Gap; a son and daughter-in-law: William M. and Sharon Denton of Bluff City; six grandsons: William Shelton Jeffcoat, Kenneth E. Jeffcoat, Douglas L. Martin, David L. Martin, Kevin Denton, and William M. Denton Jr.; three granddaughters: Tracy A. Soileau, Cindy L. Gilley, and April Hensley; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Darwin Pippin of Andalusia, Ala., and Charles Pippin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special friends: Dr. Stephen Chirelli; Jan Leffers, chaplain at Takoma Regional Hospital; and the third floor nursing staff at Takoma Regional Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late James L. and Daisy Infinger Pippin and was preceded in death by two brothers: William Lance Pippin and Jack L. Pippin.

The body will be taken to Heritage Funeral Home in Panama City, Fla., where the family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today.

The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Rest Cemetery, Overstreet Cemetery Road, Mexico Beach, Fla.

Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
