Frank Wood Greene

Frank Wood Greene, 83, of Greeneville, died Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Greene was born July 17, 1925, in Greeneville, and was a son of the late Helen (Wood) and Henry T. (H.T.) Greene Sr.
He was a 1943 graduate of Greeneville High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Tusculum College in 1950.
Mr. Greene was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He retired after 36 years of service from North American Philips Inc. (Magnavox), which was later Philips Consumer Electronics Co.
Mr. Greene had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1943 and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 64 and the Tusculum College Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Hilda Jean Greene; a daughter and son-in-law: Rebecca Ann (Greene) and David Wesley Myers, and two granddaughters: Whitney Leigh Myers and Chelsea Ryan Myers, all of Piney Flats; a stepson: the Rev. Dr. Denver Bitner, and three stepgrandchildren: David Bitner, Sara Bitner, and Elizabeth Bitner, all of Rockford, Ill.; a sister: Helen Ruth (Greene) Jones of Morristown; a sister-in-law and her husband: Mazelean and Tom Baskett of Jonesborough; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Ralph and Ruby Dayton of Knoxville and Donald Dayton of Greeneville; three special nieces: Mrs. Ray Bradley and Mrs. Mary Ruth Jones, both of Morristown, and Mrs. Patricia Knight of Oak Ridge; and several cousins.
He was preceded by his only brother, Henry Tyler Greene Jr.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service.
A graveside service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Dr. David Green will officiate.
The Greene County Honor Guard will conduct a military graveside rite.
Friends will be pallbearers.
