Robert Shelton Sr.

Died: Oct. 30, 2009

Robert Shelton Sr., 73, of Miller Road, Marshall, N.C., died Friday at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.

Mr. Shelton retired from Ball Zinc Products, which is now Jarden Zinc Products.

He was a farmer.

Mr. Shelton was a member of Memorial Church of God.

Survivors include a daughter: Robbie L. Shelton of Greeneville; a son: Jimmy Dean Shelton of Greeneville; his grandchildren: Edward W. Halley III, Matthew Waddell, Lydia Waddell, Samantha M. Shelton, Jessie J. Shelton, Robert D. Shelton, Roxana Shelton, Crystal Cornwell, and Hannah Dotson; two great-grandchildren; one sister: Pearl Smith of Morristown; and his "loving companion": Della Lee Roberts of Marshall.

He was a son of the late Raymond and Lydia Franklin Shelton and was preceded in death by a son: Robert Shelton Jr.; two brothers: Andrew Shelton and an infant; and a sister: Flora Higgins Norton.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser- Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Dean Hensley will officiate.

Interment will follow in Memorial Church of God Cemetery in Marshall.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Shelton, Johnny Ray Shelton, Jeff Shelton, Danny Roberts, Steve Rector, and Jerry Waddell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Higgins, Jamie Hinkle, Jerry Roberts, and Larry Freeman.
