Ruby Frances Gray

Died: Feb. 7, 2010

Ruby Frances Gray, 89, of Tusculum Boulevard, Greeneville, died Sunday evening at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

She and her husband of 58 years, James M. "Jim" Gray, are remembered by a number of folks in town as the owners of Edgemont Market on East Church Street, which the two operated together from 1967 until 1998. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1998.

Mrs. Gray worked at Greeneville Laundry on Depot Street and at Greene Valley Developmental Center.

She was a member of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. For a number of years, she unlocked the church each Sunday morning and made coffee for worshipers.

"Ruby touched the lives of many family and friends and will be missed," her family stated.

Survivors include a sister and brother in law: Margaret and Clifton Thomas of Alcoa; a sister-in-law: Rose Bible of Mosheim; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece: Judy Nicholson, a special nephew: Jackie Lane; and a special great-nephew: the Rev. Casey Nicholson of Greeneville, who each helped care for her in the latter years of her life; and her special friends: Bill Gott, Rob and Caroline Russell, and the staff and residents of Life Care Center of Greeneville.

She was a daughter of the late Will and Ellen Rader Bible and was preceded in death by three brothers: Cecil Bible, Robert Bible, and Willard "Bill" Bible; and two sisters: Bessie Rader and Minnie Lane.

In accordance with her request, there will be no formal visitation or service.

A committal service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in the GreeneLawn Mausoleum Chapel. The Rev. James W. Lively will officiate.

Entombment will be in GreeneLawn Mausoleum. Family and friends will meet at the mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Main St., Greeneville, TN 37745.

Condolences may be sent to the Gray family online at www.KiserRoseHill.com
