Died: March 7, 2011

Edith Mitchell Burgner, 76, of Chuckey, passed away Monday morning at Laughlin HealthCare Center.

She was a former employee of Greene Valley Developmental Center and J.C. Penney.

She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy and Donna Burgner of Afton; one grandson: Timothy Burgner of Afton; two sisters: Kathleen Alexander and Louise Click, both of Greene County; three brothers and their wives: Doyle and Nancy Mitchell of Afton, Emmett and Birda Mitchell of Douglas, Ga., and Luther and Earlene Mitchell of Greeneville; two brothers and their wives: Cecil and Frances Burgner of Greeneville and Richard and Fran Burgner of Milligan College; one sister-in-law: Patsy Mitchell of Nokesville, Va.; special friends: Sam and Barbara Stiltner and the Rev. Ken Gaskin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

She was a daughter of the late Tipton and Hazel Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Burgner; two sisters: Joanne and Lois Mitchell; two brothers: Hubert and Stanley Mitchell; a brother-in-law: Edward Burgner; and a sister-in-law: Wanda Reaves.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Bobby Morrison and the Rev. Ken Gaskin will officiate.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bob Alexander, Don Brown, Charles Click, Garry Reaves, Larry Reaves, and Jeff Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dharmen Patel, the nurses and staffs of Laughlin HealthCare Center and Caris Hospice.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Ted Wilhoit, 2275 Old Jonesboro Road, Chuckey, TN 37641.
