Died: Feb. 10, 2012

Billy Andrew Dean, age 73, passed away Friday afternoon at his home on Lonesome Pine Trail.

He worked for Universal Furniture in Morristown for 42 years.

He was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife: Jewell Daughtery Dean; a son: Rodney Dean; his grandchildren: Christina and Shawn Cureton of Knoxville, Jason Dean of the home and his fiancée, Faith Taylor; a great-granddaughter: Alexis Dean; his mother: Mildred Dean; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Martha Gaby, Linda Lane, and Brenda and Johnny Swatzell, all of Greeneville, Emma Lee and Bill Pierce of Bulls Gap, and Cecil Turner of Clayton, Ga.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Earl Dean and Danny and Jean Dean, all of Midway, and Tommy and Becky Dean of Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father: Hickman Dean; two brothers: Lonnie and Robert Dean; and a sister: Otha "Susie" Turner.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. John Daughtery, the Rev. Mark Wills, and Chaplain Gregory Barlow will officiate.

It was the request of Mr. Dean to be buried at sunrise, which was his favorite time of the day. Committal services will be held at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in Carter's Station Cemetery at Albany. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shane Gaby, William Brown, David Monk, Andy Monk, Dennis Chapman, and Thomas Garland.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice, Dr. Dharmen Patel, Dr. John Boys, and Dr. Andy Roberts.
