Died: April 19, 2012

Judy Mae Davis Grooms, 64, of Windswept Lane, Greeneville, passed away Thursday at Wellmont Bristol Regional Hospital.

She owned and operated Judy's Beauty Shop for a number of years.

She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Her "church family" meant the world to her. They stood by her side and encouraged her during her illness.

She fought a very courageous battle with cancer and always relied upon the Lord for strength. She would often quote, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith."

Survivors include her husband of 41 years: Jerry Lee Grooms; a daughter and son-in-law: Pamela and David Bowers of Greeneville; her very special grandchildren: Blake David Bowers and Jordan Brooke Bowers; a sister: Wanda Wills of Greeneville; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Truman and Doris Davis and James and Patricia Davis of Greeneville, and Doyle Davis and Elizabeth Jane Gosnell of Chuckey; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wilbur Grooms of Greeneville, Bob and Lena Hawke of Grafton, Ohio, Richard Grooms of Tucson, Ariz., Irene Simms of Hickory, N.C., Bud and Susie Garner of Oxford, N.C., Martha Gillenwater of Johnson City, Grace Greenway of Lebanon, Phillip and Mary Beaver of Hildebran, N.C., Rick and Betty Strange of Newport, and Garvis "Junior" and Donna Grooms of Hickory; a special aunt: Hazel Lyons of Kingsport; her father-in-law: Roy Beryl Martin of Fall Branch; numerous special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends: Shirley Roark, Sue Morelock, Margaret Rigsby, Nancy Susong, and Ken and Lee Becker.

She was the daughter of the late Hilierd and Martha Louise Davis and was preceded in death by her son: Jerry Wayne Grooms; brothers: Minnis Davis, Dewey "Sonny" Davis, and Rance Davis; father-in-law and mothers-in-law: Garvis Grooms, Myrtle Jenkins, and Emma Martin; and niece: Toushawa Davis.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Fellowship Church with interment in River Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Bunch will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Chris Wills, Ronnie Williams, Gary Gregg, J.R. Grooms, Daniel Laney, and Timmie Trantham.
