Died: Oct. 7, 2012

Billy D. "Red" Scott, 73, of Walkers Ford Road, Greeneville, passed away Sunday at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

Mr. Scott retired from Philips Consumer Electronics Co. and was a farmer.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his Lord and his family.

Mr. Scott was an avid fox hunter.

Survivors include the light of his life, his wife of 48 years: Charlotte Scott; two daughters and a son-in-law: Mattie Belle and Leon Salley and Melissa Scott; two grandsons: Shawn Salley and Travis Salley and Amber; a great-grandson: Blake; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Geraldine Malone and Paulette and Eddie Rhoton; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank and Jeanette Scott and Harry and Vanessa Scott; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Betty Scott, Alfred and Judy Payne, Clyde and Phyllis Payne, and Louise Payne; several special nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Kyle Scott; and numerous friends, including a special friend and neighbor: Ruth Gosnell.

He was the son of the late Kyle and Mattie Dixon Scott and was preceded in death by a brother: Snook Scott; and two brothers-in-law: Clarence Malone and Ralph Payne.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Ronnie Duncan, Pastor Tracey Colley, Pastor Kevin McAmis, and Pastor Arnold Schnell will officiate. Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Brooks, Scotty Caldwell, John Scott, Adam Scott, Thomas Payne, Ben Seaton, and Douglas Payne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Austin and staff, the staff of ICU at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, the staff of Greystone Health Care, the Select Specialty staff, Barbara Oliver, Danny Dingus, his friends at Creekside Market, William Parton, Reed Harrison, Clarence Harrison, Junior Reaves, Charles Crum, Gary Helbert, Gene Lasley, Ralph Hinkle, Ralph Metcalf, A.L. Duckworth Jr., Lee Duckworth, and all his friends from Dogwalk.
