MORRISTOWN -- Helen Edith Lawson, 87, of Whitesburg, passed away Wednesday at Morristown Hamblen Hospital.

She was a longtime member of Whitesburg First Baptist Church.

She was also a member of the Morristown Chapter No. 486, Order of the Eastern Star.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband: Sturm Lawson; her son-in-law: Lonnie R. Laster; her parents: J.N. and Ola Horton; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors include her daughter: Betty Laster; her son: Morris Lawson; four grandchildren: Scotty Lawson, Terry Lawson, Gina (Bob) Bales, and Craig (Crystal) Laster; five great-grandchildren; a sister: Lois McLain; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 8 p.m. The Rev. Charlie Brewer will officiate.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Whitesburg First Baptist Church Food Pantry or missions.
