Died: Nov. 1, 2012

Norman "Humpy" Hensley, of Greeneville, passed away peacefully Thursday at Takoma Regional Hospital at the age of 81.

He was a member and usher at Old Tabernacle Church on the Newport Highway in Greeneville.

He was an avid fisherman and outdoors man and loved to play horseshoes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years: Evelyn M. Hensley; one daughter: Beverly "Becky" Price; a son and daughter-in-law: Gary W. and Linda G. Hensley; four sisters: Reba Tullock, Mildred Brown, Vevel Hipps, and Betty and brother-in-law, Arles, Faver; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hensley and Louise Hensley; one granddaughter: Michelle Hall; two grandsons: Brian and Justin Hensley; and two great-granddaughters: Shawana Yokley and Kelsea Hensley.

His special and close friends include: Shirley Gregory, Thomas Bolin, Tommy Bowman, Earland O'Dell, Mr. and Mrs. Troy Johnson, Glenn Smith, and the employees of the former Greeneville Magnavox Company.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents: Crawford and Lottie Hensley; four brothers: Hover Hensley, Paul Hensley, Clay Hensley and Ray Hensley; and two sisters: Pearl Hilbert and Judean Dyer.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose-Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by Pastor Wayne Riddle of Old Tabernacle Church and Pastor Michael Washington of New Beginnings Assembly of God.

A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. It is requested that friends who would like to join the family for the committal service meet at 1:20 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Clifton, Justin Hensley, Brian Hensley, Jacob Carver, Josh Riddle, and Rick Hensley.

Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of both Food City Greeneville locations; special friends of the Greeneville Bass Club; Dr. Michael J. Odell; Dr. Jason Carter, and Dr. John Boys.

The family expressed a special thanks to all Takoma Hospital staff and especially the third floor nurses and staff.
