Orpha Rovina Roberts Crawford, 86, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday at her home, surrounded by family, after a lengthy illness. "Absent from the body but present with the Lord."
She was born in Greene County and resided most of her life in Washington and Sullivan counties.
Orpha had worked at Metals Engineering and Magnavox.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her husband: Ralph "Trigger" Crawford; one granddaughter: Tana Louise Thacker; her parents: Sambo and Mittie Roberts; and two sisters: Mary Lois Roberts and Lena Jenalda Harrison Robinson.
She is survived by her children: Robert and wife, Nella Mae, Ray and Sue, Junior Reese and wife, Paulette, Nannie Mae and husband, George, Ima Jean, Elminia, and Ricky and wife, Elizabeth; 15 grandchildren: Robbie, Wayne, Vickie, Diana, Chris, Amanda, Paula Jo, Melissa Gail, Suella, Jamie, Nathan, Laura, Melissa Dawn, Ricky Jr., and Marlena; two stepgrandchildren: Lonnie and Frances; 14 great-grandchildren: Casey, Kaitlyn, Caleb, Aubrie, Joshua, Jesse, Cody, Barrett, Alyson, Ethan, Jacob, Samuel, Liam, and Austin; and four stepgreat-grandchildren: Dillon, Diamond, Alysia, and Hunter.
She is also survived by three sisters: Lora Carroll, Willie Roberts, and Laura Crawford; one brother: Jessie Norce Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to her special neighbors, family and friends, who prayed for her; Jim with Gray Respiratory, Amedisys Home Health, Amedisys Hospice, especially Kris, Marcella, the Chaplain (Mike), Pastor Mike Anglin, and members of Vernon Heights Baptist Church, and Phyllis.
The family received friends Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, with services following in the chapel. Pastor Mike Anglin officiated.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Light Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.
