Gladys Irene Peters, age 79, of Greeneville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning.
Born Oct. 30, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Bertie Ward.
Mrs. Peters was a member of First Christian Church and the Rebekah Circle of the church.
She continues to be affectionately known as a loving mother, special grandmother, mamaw, grammy, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Sherry and Jim Foshie and Lesa Peters; one son and daughter-in-law: Stephen and Jean Peters; her grandchildren and spouses: Chad and Starsha Foshie, Joe and Holly Scheppe, and Emily Peters; her great-grandchildren: Hunter Foshie, Dakota Cox, Grant Ely Scheppe, and Chloe Peters; and her special friends: Joy Blankenship, Barbara Ottinger, Oris and Freda Maxey, and all her associates and friends from Walmart.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Curtis R. Peters; a grandson: Charles Foshie; four brothers; and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Ministers Charles Reese and Scott Wakefield will officiate.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Randy Dixon, Jerry Dixon, Mark Liebert, Mike French, Chad Foshie, and Shane Dixson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Ward, Gene Ward, and Jeff McNabb.
