Munsey Young Cooter

APPOMATTOX, Va. -- Munsey Young Cooter, 90, died Thursday at Runk and Pratt Residential Care in Forest.
He was the husband of 66 years of the late Louise Miller Cooter. Born Sept. 8, 1922, in Ottway, Tenn., he was a son of the late William Clifford and Jessie Young Cooter.
Mr. Cooter is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Wanda Cooter and Danny and Dolly Cooter, all of Appomattox, and Tracey and Pam Cooter of Rustburg; a daughter: Debby C. Moquin, of Bend, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister: Jessie Smith of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Sarah Miller Cooter, a brother, and a sister.
Munsey will be remembered as a godly husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Munsey retired from General Electric, and was a tobacco and cattle farmer.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Watson and the Rev. Paul Kvasnicka officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cullen Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard of American Legion Post No. 104 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9855.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
