FALL BRANCH -- Wanda McCrary, 71, of Chuckey, went home to be with her husband Saturday.
She loved working outside in the dirt, weed eating and working in her flowers. She was a mother to all, and she had a great love for her family. She was a wonderful mother-in-law, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
"God made a wonderful mother; a mother who'll never grow old. He made her smile with golden sunshine; He made her heart with pure gold. He made her as nearly an angel, as anyone could be. God made a wonderful mother; and gave that mother to me. Love, Your Children."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tum McCrary; and her parents, Carl and Beulah Johnson.
Wanda is survived by her son: Rickey McCrary and wife, Vivian, of Chuckey; two sisters: Imogene Hensley of Greeneville and Mert Hayes and her husband, Joe, of Limestone; a special niece: Alex Thournburg; a special nephew: Justin Keys; several other special nieces and nephews; and her caregivers: Lisa Rasnake and Kathy Stout.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch, with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. The Rev. Glen McCracken will officiate.
The family will also receive friends at 4830 Jearoldstown Road.
A graveside service will be held at noon Tuesday in Cherry Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery McCrary, Clifford McCrary, Greg Rasnake, Lonnie Foxx, Donnie Foxx and Stanley Foxx.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Keys, James McNew, Callie Ryans, Stacey Hayes, Wayne Davis, and E.B. Moore.
The family extends a special thanks to the Smoky Mountain Hospice.
